The fourteenth anniversary of the public presentation of the first Zorrotzaurre Master Plan

Today is the fourteenth anniversary of the public presentation of the Zorrotzaurre Management Committee and the first regeneration Master Plan for the area, drafted by Zaha Hadid Architects.

The Management Committee commencing its public activities, comprising Bilbao City Hall, the Bilbao Port Authority, the Bizkaia Provincial Council and three companies owning land (Vicinay Cadenas S.A., Eurocis S.A. and Sociedad Promotora Inmobiliaria Margen Derecha S.L.), had been legally created three years earlier. The civil engineer Pablo Otaola, who had been the general manager of Bilbao Ría 2000, was appointed executive director.

That same day, the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum opened a detailed exhibition spotlighting the Master Plan (models, photos, computer graphics, information panels) that was open to the general public for one month.

The Master Plan, which was modified in 2007, also by Zaha Hadid’s team, has been the baseline document of reference for all the planning of the Zorrotzaurre project which has subsequently been approved.
